India - Oil and Gas Production - Kochi-Kootanad-Bangalore-Mangalore GAIL Pipeline is expected to be commissioned by March 2013

India’s Petroleum and Natural Gas Regulatory Board has given GAIL approval to construct a 1,104 km, 4–30 inch diameter gas pipeline extending from Kochi to Mangalore.


The Kochi-Kootanad-Bangalore-Mangalore gas pipeline, which will have a design capacity of 16 MMcm/d of gas, runs through the districts of Ernakulam, Thrissur, Palakkad, Mallapuram, Kozhikode, Kannur and Kasargod in the state of Kerala; and Coimbatore, Erode, Salem and Dharmapuri in the state of Tamulnadu; Dakshin Kannad, Chamrajnagar, Mandya and Benguluru in the state of Karnatake.

It will be constructed in two phases; the first phase will involve approximately 44 km of pipeline and the second phase will involve completion of the remaining 1,060 km.

The pipeline is expected to be commissioned by March 2013.

India - Coatings Research and Development - BASF sets up a coatings technical support lab in India

New Coatings Technical Support Lab in India


Mangalore, India – June 1, 2012

Taking another stride towards developing India as an international competence center, legacy BASF Coatings (India) Private Limited (which subsequently merged with BASF India Limited with effect from 14th January, 2011) has set up a new coatings technical support lab at Mangalore, India. This new facility at Mangalore will support lab activities including product development, analytical testing, certification and new pigment qualification, catering to the coatings customers of BASF outside of India.
