DHIRENDRA KUMAR • Conferences and seminars provide ample opportunities for presentation of research work being carried out at various organisations. Many delegates from industries looking for solutions to their corrosion protection problems do not find such events useful as most of the presentations are related to futuristic or high tech materials.

It would be worthwhile to include either an interactive session on corrosion stratigies for different users or organise one day workshop to discuss current technologies for corrosion protection in various environments.

Manickam Valliappan • I agree with Dr Dhirendra for the inclusion of an interactive session strategies for different industries. The present day conferences and seminars do not yield knowledge level specific outputs. For instance, a participant attending the conference with the basic level of knowledge needs to put a lot of knowledge acquisition efforts in preparing himself to understand the complex concepts proposed by the corrosion research groups. There is a huge gap between Knowledge Receivers (Industries) and Knowledge Providers (Academic and Research groups). If there is no specific department within the industries to handle corrosion issues, we can say industries are Knowledge Receivers only in terms of Corrosion Management.

I would like to quote some of our earlier discussion notes. If we find answers to these queries, we can realize a convincing relationship between Receivers and Providers.
Do we conduct corrosion research for the simulated industrial conditions/failures?

India - Corrosion Management - How important is collaboration of service providers with the end-users for achieving corrosion control?

Is it good to rely on setpoint for corrosion control based on Industry Standard or our own operational experience? What should be the best possible way to establish a meaningful setpoint relationship for corrosion control?
