NEW DELHI, India – ONGC’s Bassein field and satellite asset offshore western India has achieved 200 bcm (7 tcf) of cumulative gas production after over two decades in operation.

The field contributes nearly 43 % of ONGC’s gas production. Recent studies suggest its life could be extended for another 20 years. Bassein’s gas is used by nine power plants, seven fertilizer plants, two refineries and two petrochemical plants, and also heads to northern India via the Hazira-Bijapur-Jagdishpur pipeline.
