ONGC gas pipeline leaks in Surat; no causality

A gas pipeline of Oil and Natural Gas Corporation (ONGC), passing through the city, leaked on Sunday causing panic among residents living nearby, police said. However, the incident caused no casualty and leakage was repaired after a struggle of three hours by fire officials and ONGC engineers, they said.

The incident took place near the ONGC circle, they said, adding the pipeline that formed leakage goes from ONGC Hazira plant to Ankleshwar. Fire officials rushed to the spot and evacuated the nearby areas as a precautionary measure, police said. Meanwhile, the ONGC officials said that an inquiry would be held to ascertain the cause of leakage.
