  1. Hello,
Corrosion control to most people and organisers of conferences ( incl CII) means promoting painting. How sad !
As the oldest in stainless steel, my company Outokumpu publishes Corrosion Handbook which can be requested by all academic libraries and acedemic professionals or the end users and designers/consultants. We enjoy making everyone aware about the attributes of stainless steel. Our experience and wisdom in fighting corrosion in any environment thru our innovative new grades of stainless steel is something which we always share through technical workshops in India.
We welcome invitations to us to speak about the corrosion resistane stainless steel products. As a stainless steel manufacturing company, we have the smallest carbon footprint in EU and we are indeed proud of our green credentials.
Let us aim for a corrosion free world thru proper material selection and not by using environment unfriendly paints.
    Regards
    Yatinder Suri

  2. There is a misconception that only one control method like painting is available for corrosion control. Many critical applications call for using corrosion resistant materials (CRAs). We need to take several factors into consideration for choosing the right system. In many process systems prime focus is on protecting the exteriors like painting building structures since there is no supporting data availble to tell about the corrosion of interiors. There is no awareness for internal corrosion in India. The users should see where protection is required - external, internal or both.

We should look for "GREENER" economical corrosion control solutions to protect our environment. Please send us the links that describe such initiatives. Our focus is on dealing with all types of control measures and creating awareness for such systems.

  3. Corrosion control methods may be broadly classified into; Modification of material, Modification of environment, Application of a potential or current, and, Coatings. Under each of these we have a large number of methods/techniques. Corrosion control is really a game involving metallurgists, chemists, design engineers, electrical/electronic experts, paint technologists, and many others. For effective protection, we may need even educationists who can educate the common people about corrosion.
